International Relations Council of Turkey (UİK-IRCT)


The International Relations Council of Turkey (IRCT) was established in 2004 to become a hub for research, networking, and dissemination of knowledge in the field of International Relations and related areas in Turkey. It carries out activities to increase interaction among IR experts, and to enhance public awareness on issues related to international politics, security, foreign policy, international organizations and law, and the history of international politics. The Council conducts research and organize training programs to contribute to the development of the IR discipline in Turkey. Two of the flagship training programs are “Security Academy”, running yearly since 2008 with the support of the NATO Public Diplomacy Division, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, and various Turkish universities; and “Foreign Policy Academy”, running since 2015 with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and various Turkish universities. The Council also organizes conventions, symposiums, seminars, conferences, and research workshops on relevant topics, especially in the fields of international politics, security studies, foreign policy analysis and related areas. To contribute to the development of the quality of research in the field of International Relations in Turkey, the IRTC publishes books, journals, research reports, and opinions pieces, and disseminate information through social media. It’s flagship quarterly journal, Uluslararasi Iliskiler, has become the main political science journal in Turkey which is covered by the Social Sciences Citation Index since 2008. It is the only journal in the Index that is published in Turkish.
